Tesco Platinum auto issue?

I've had junk mail from Tesco advising me that I am provisionally approved for their new Platinum card, subject to credit checks. It has some big clubcard points rewards, but a charge of £150pa. The letter doesn't say they are automatically issuing me with a card, nor does it say I need to apply - and I'm unhappy about the sloppy wording on this piece of marketing. I don't want this card. Does anyone know whether Tesco plans to issue these cards to existing cardholders without them asking for them - surely not? But the letter leaves you guessing that they might!

It's a marketing gimmick, like the "pre-approved" cards after a soft check; a credit card company can't send cards to consumers without receiving their application first.
(It used to be a thing in the past, with very negative consequences, and it's been banned since.)0 -
Thanks, that's assuring and really appreciated - I think it's bad practice by Tesco though not to explain that in the letter!0
