We do all our shopping at asda, Aldi is closer and possibly cheaper but in asda we can get everything under 1 roof.

I find Aldi stores small, over crowded, messy with long que's. Now most of the special buys are online I have less of a reason to shop there.

Tesco and Aldi are my nearest stores. I tend to spend more at the former, as Aldi's range is limited and they don't sell some products I need, such as Irish Yoghurt.

Since having my TSB contactless card, I (at the moment) save milk, meat and cheese purchases for Aldi, as Tesco don't yet take contactless (due here about October).

My second post in this thread.

My local Tesco is a comparatively small Tesco Express but prices are on a par with the Asda Superstore. Where the Asda Superstore scores though is choice and longer sell-by dates.

I cannot understand why Lidl should have its devotees. Basically they only stock one brand of an item with a take it or leave it attitude. Those brands too are low quality and equally low in taste. Ok I suppose for anyone who doesn't care what they put on their table.

    I predominantly shop at Tesco.

It's much easier (seeing as I work for them) even though I've not been there long enough to warrant a Privilegecard.

Our store has just had contactless put in so I can use my phone to pay on the self service now.

We don't have an Aldi, Lidl, Asda or Morrisons near enough to us to make it worth driving to find one.

I used to shop at Tesco's and top up with Sainsbury's, but frankly I found Tesco's so ghastly that we now shop at Waitrose, which is a much better experience all round. I don't spend anymore there than I used to at Tesco's and Sainsbury's and it is so much more pleasant. ;)
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

I'm moving to a new area next week, and the local shopping availability is Aldi and Tesco.

Recently I've been doing all my shopping (minus a few essentials that I need elsewhere, such as Boots or Asda), at Iceland. The food there is mostly all crap, take of that what you will about my cooking and ambition to strive for a healthier family. I always buy fruit and veg too ::p

I have a Lidl within walking distance to me at the moment but have stopped going there really, as I find it rather more expensive now. There bakery section is still fabulous though.

Do Aldi have a bakery? Are they cheaper than Lidl?

What's it like to shop at Tesco?

Where do you shop and do you shop there because it's important to you or is it just because it's local?

Until I met DP, I always thought grocery shopping was just for fruit and veg, and food shopping was everything else. Yes, there is a lot to be desired with my mental state :D

    Good luck with the move!

Maybe it's the cook rather than the produce? :rotfl:

That's MSE's advice in a round about way. If you can taste a difference vote with your taste buds, if you can't taste a difference, vote with your wallet/purse.
