Barclays Account - 'Gone Away'

Hi All,

New here and was hoping for some advice. Some time ago I had a Barclays current account and made a number of debit card transactions in the region of £2,600. These funds were in the account as I had no authorised overdraft.

A few weeks later I had realised that these transactions had not been debited off the balance and so rang Barclays to explain, they told me they had no report of these transactions at all.

I left it another two weeks and called again to be told 'this could be a bank error in your favour'. Nothing was done and over 6 months later they debited the whole amount taking me overdrawn where i had no overdraft facility.

They have since sold the debt and issued a 'Gone away' status on my file, my question is two fold.

1. Should I open up a complaint with ombudsman? Whilst i did utilise the funds i had no overdraft so how can it be allowed that they put me overdrawn months later when i called to settle the 'debt'.

2. Should I attempt to place a 'notice of correction' on the account.

Any help or advice greatly received.

Do you have proof still of the transactions you made at the time?

How long passed between the events I have highlighted?

Why did you ignore the debt during this time? Hoping it would just disappear, perhaps?
