I bought a Xaiomi Mi Pad 2 from eglobalcentral(uk) on ebay in March 2016. I did not realize until some time later they were Hong Kong based because of the (uk) tag and the dispatch address was in the UK.
The pad ran ok until about 10 days ago and then it would not open. I tried every trick to start it but no joy. I contacted the company and to cut a long story short I have returned to a UK address for examination. It has since been sent to Hong Kong. They insisted I pay for the postage which I will dispute with ebay.
I paid for the pad by paypal with a Mastercard and if I don't get a satisfactory repaired pad or a replacement I would like to know my best options to get my money back. 1. ebay 2. paypal or 3. Mastercard ?

You're too late for eBay (30 days) from delivery date.
You have 180 days to open a dispute with Paypal, but I am not sure if there are implications because you paid by CC. Did you pay as a guest?
Charge back to your CC should be the last resort.
If you have paid upfront for return postage, you won't get this reimbursed by Paypal. They can only refund what you paid originally.0 -
If you had bought an expensive Chinese made widget from Argos and it went wrong you would have taken it back and expected a refund / replacement under UK consumer law.
The fact that this outfit has a base in Hong Kong is neither here nor there, they should have replaced or refunded when they received it back at their UK address.
I hope the postage to Hong Kong was not expensive because you will not be refunded by eBay/paypal for it.
If the Hong Kong outfit can string you along past the 180 day paypal deadline (and they will try) you will see nothing back and will have no item and no cash.
I would recommend that you start a paypal claim yesterday and that you also report this outfit to trading standards.0 -
Thanks for the replies. The postage was 8.50, not a fortune. I will give it a couple of more days and if nothing has happened I will report it to PayPal. It was purchased through eBay and my PayPal account, using credit card. The tablet was 185 so not cheap.0

Happy ending. PayPal refunded £185 after Eglobal failed to respond to their emails.
Thanks for your help.0
