Comparison sites for Car Insurance - are they Accurate ? (eg CompareTheMarket.com)

When looking at Car insurance on comparison sites:

eg
Go compare
Compare the market.com

and lets say 4 companies quote a good low quote for car insurance (in this example)

Llyds - £180
RAC £190
AA £195
Swinton £205

Then when you click on the link to the one you want (lets say AA £195), You click on the AA link and get redirected to the AA Website, (through the comparison site)

..then will the price quoted of £195 (on the comparison site) stay that exact price of £195 when you are on the AA site?

or it could increase just by going to the AA site, by a higher amount ?

Has that happened to you, the prices you get on the comparison site change to when you go to the redirect link ?

In my experience the price is accurate, however occasionally they get the extras or add-ons wrong (e.g. it says £200 including a courtesy car, whereas the website then claims £200 plus another £20 for a courtesy car).

The weird thing is you can go to an insurer via a comparison website and get a price, then go directly to them and enter EXACTLY the same information as in the quote you got via the comparison website, and it might come out as a different price. In my experience, going via comparison websites reduces (or doesn't alter) the price.

Try both through the comparison site and on the insurers own, don't forget some cashback sites also give good deals.

I saved £50 by going direct with Tesco and could have gotten £40 cashback if I had been more diligent in my research!

The price is accurate providing the data matches. Doing quotes recently and gocompare do not offer the employer job after choosing the correct job title. So its possible the insurer will query that and imcrease the premium when they find out the job is at a licenced drinking establishment.

Where is the car kept, office carpark or public carpark. Where do you draw the line there? if I work in the office of a pub which do i choose? If i am on the shop floor sometimes does that make a difference?

Just a couple of things the comparison sites do not pickup on compared to some insurance sites. Some are vague and asked how long you have held your licence 1-2, 2-3 etc. Where some want the year, month, day and time and what colour underwear you had on...
