Travel Insurance pre-existing conditions

Hello, I wondered if someone could help clarify the wording of a question that is asked when a pre-existing medical condition is screened by the travel insurance companies. The question is:
'Have you currently been advised to take any medication for this illness?'
I find the wording of this very confusing - it feels half in the present and half in the past. So what does this mean if you had been prescribed medication up until about a year ago but since then have successfully come off of this medication and have been fine without it?
I just wondered how one should answer this question if this is the case? (I have tried to phone a company to speak to someone about this but I have been put on hold for such a long time I had to give up!)
Many thanks for your help

To me, "currently" means are you on medication now. If they mean have you ever been prescribed .......then that is how it should read. That is how I would answer it.
As an aside, have you tried Staysure? I just got a quote which was very good.0 -
It isn't an ambiguous question.
Your answer is "no"0 -
I wondered if the OP means that the medication has been prescribed/advised by a doctor, but the OP has chosen to come off it and is managing well.
This could mean that the medication is still CURRENTLY advised.0 -

Are you currently taking the prescribed medication? If you have stopped taking it, did you do this with agreement from the doctor or was it your decision to do so? Recently I have read a forum in which several contributors have decided to stop taking an important drug against the wishes of the doctor.0 -
Do the medical profession believe you should be currently taking medication? Whether you actually are or aren't is another question as sometimes people come off it without the agreement of their doctor.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Thank you for your replies - really helpful. The doctor advised me to come off the medication. I think I know how to answer the question now.
Many thanks for your help0
