Question: 'New Customer' with BT, how does the switchover work?

I am currently on BT and the service is due to end at the end of month.
Given the current deals on BT for new customers, would it be possible for my partner to sign up instead and get the discounts?
Also presumably if she goes online and sets the install date, will it then automatically cease my agreement when her connection goes in.
Or will they both run in parallel (obviously not what I want).

I would think they are unlikely to fall for that.
Given the numerous phone providers who are out there which are cheaper than BT, why risk it ? You are also more likely to keep your phone number by moving it to another supplier. Look at EE, Sky etc.
Why would a new owner of your house want your old number ?
Do don't say whether you want broadband too ? (a number of companies offer BB free for 12months when you move to them)

Will give you your options
or a cash back site
A new supplier will terminate the BT contract for you and make the change over on the same date0 -
All the others, apart from Sky are only offering 18 month contracts. I'm with TT at the moment out of contract.0

Thanks, we don't care about the number but more ensuring that they cancel the existing line automatically when the new contract in a new name starts.
The desire to stay with BT was more due to their current deals e.g. £150 off and possibility of cashback on top...thus making it one of the most competitive.0 -
Maybe you should compare the BT full price deal (if they find out what you are upto) and the deal/cashback offered from another supplier.
If there is a big difference take the safe option.
You could always go back to BT in 12 months0 -
You are nearly out of contract so phone BT up and see what they offer .
If you initiate an ISP switch BT are going to send you a sorry you are leaving offer .
Your service and payments do not cease at the contract end date but roll over to a 30 day rolling contract often at full price .0
