Help!!!!! excel is crashing..

Hi all.
I am using dell windows 7 proff..
When i open microsoft excel, window configuration box pop out...it configuring half way and than stop suddenly...than another box pop out says window installer and than third one software update box....so hit yes to allow change on hardware but after 5 mins it stops...at the end nothing happened and all shuts itself.
now i can not open my saved excel sheet. whenever i hit my saved file, this updating thingy starts and stops...i have restart my comp..many time.. i checked there is no virus as my dell is new and has updated anti virus.
any help please

What version of Office do you have installed?0

A recent article on problems caused by recent Excel updates. Not sure if it is similar to your problem but worth a read.

I would try to do a Repair of Office 2010.
Click on Start -> Settings -> System -> Apps & features.
This took a long time before coming up with a list of "apps".
Scroll down until you find Office 2010, and click on it
Now click on Modify, and Modify again
Then click on Yes, you do want this app to modify...
Select the Repair radio button, then click Continue
It should do a repair, after which I hope things might be better.
