Poorly or just ageing cat?

Hopefully from now on the poor cat will always have somewhere to toilet.0

Cats are by nature very clean, so if it is crapping in the house and not grooming, there is something wrong. Hope the poor thing gets sorted soon, it must be very stressful for the cat(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I just came back from the kitchen after cooking stir fry to find a cryptic message posted on here, the screen in fullscreen and my bengal cat asleep on the keyboard. I have deleted it now but she loves my computer and has accidentally sent 'messages' before by trampling all over it.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

So glad that that poor cat is being taken to the vet. I doubt the cat could be senile at around 11-13 years old. We have only ever had one cat that started to show signs of senility (confirmed by the vet) when she was around 19 years of age but even then she always managed to find her way to the litter tray.
All our cats have access to the outside but we always have at least one clean litter tray indoors, so if something upsets one of our cats, they tend to use the litter tray. It's also a good indication when something is wrong; one of our cats used it when she had cystitis and we saw the blood spots in the litter tray (urgent visit to the vet then!).
If the litter tray is kept clean, then there should not be any smell. I would have 2 for the time being. I have just looked after a friend's very elderly indoor cat and cleaned the 2 litter trays mornings and evenings. There was no smell whatsoever in the flat. I would rather clean out a litter tray then cleaning carpets, bedding, etc.0 -
Hopefully the owners will learn what care spooky need's so that's great news.
Glad I didn't come across as a cow, messages can seem a bit short cos of typing on my phone.0 -

I read your stray cat thread so I know you are not a cow, far from it.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
