    Hi guys,

I've been looking for new jobs on the downlow, so I've uploaded my CV to a couple of job hunting sites. I've since found out through personal sources that a recruiter sent my CV to my boss, clearly not having read the CV knowing I'm already working here.

    Livid isn't the word.

Is there anything I can do? I don't know which recruiter it was unfortunately. How inept do you have to be as a recruiter to send a CV to the company they are already at?!

Essentially it depends what was agreed ie the terms - including implied.

Some sites have a box which if not unticked means the recruiter uploads the CV to sister sites eg Manc Jobs, Lpool Jobs and so on.

If you've had a phone call with a recruiter they should state that they'll only send CVs with your consent, otherwise it's breach of contract, as well as potentially Data Protection breaches for their firm which you could report to the ICO.

I've only heard of a small number of these - and they were either high paying legal jobs (resulting in a large loss of opportunity claim), or a case where identity fraud occurred as a result of a recruiter uploading an individual's data which included her DOB, address, mobile number and schools (the latter of which was her password).

A polite email to the CEO of any recruiters you have dealt with, asking them to desist should suffice. You'd hope they'd investigate the specific instance, but unless you can find out which recruiter's agent did this, there's little recourse at this stage.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
