I think my current hard drive is about to die an i have a second (and larger)one that I would like to directly use to mirror failing one literally transfer (clone) everything over from one to another.
Both are sata drives and i would like to be able to just boot from the new one straight away.
Can anyone suggest software that will allow me to do this easily please as i am a novice to this please?
Thanks as usual

Macrium runs from a bootCD that you create with the downloaded ISO file, so no, it shouldn't matter, it's self-contained......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I'd go with Macrium as well - in fact I've just replaced a dying HDD (yes, Seagate) in exactly this way - and imaged my other discs just in case!
Some of the other imaging software I've tried in the past has had a problem with differing sized discs but never Macrium.0 -
Macrium worked for me in the past too.
I did have a problem with different-sized disks initially, until I realised that I had to put the new (larger) one in the machine, with the smaller one attached via USB.0 -
For jobs like that I have had good success over the years with Clonezilla. Guide to it here http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/free_imaging_software.html0
