Advice about new components.

I'm after some advice about a new motherboard, cpu and ram for my desktop. It's really not my week as far as tech goes haha. Laptop went belly up now desktop has too.
It's been messing up in one way or another for a while (won't restart, Ethernet won't work, keeps crashing or freezing etc) and today after a restart it just won't come on at all. I've tried to reinstall Windows and it just isn't having it. Just freezes or hangs. I've unplugged everything inside so it's just the hdd to see if it was another component but it still won't work.
Have replaced the HDD and replaced and checked all cables.
But it's old so it's had a good innings. The motherboard is an
I used to upgrade it quite a lot but have no idea what's what these days so am looking for advice I'd rather build my own than buy a system and I can use the case (antec solo) and hard drive. I've got a 450w corsair cpu. I assume I could use that too?
So am looking for some advice on what would be a decent mobo, cpu and ram combo?
It's not used for gaming so on board graphics will be fine it's used for music, watching the odd film, iTunes, and general day to day computing. Nothing really taxing.
I do have four hard drives so my only requirement is a motherboard that has enough sata connections for those. But then I could add a card for more sata connectors couldn't I. My DVD drive is IDE and I don't suppose there will be any motherboards with that connection anymore. But it's not like they're expensive to replace.
So can someone point me in the direction of some replacements. Maybe a bundle deal of anyone has seen a decent one?
Max budget is £200 but I'd prefer to spend less if possible.
Thanks.

Thanks but as I said I'd rather keep the case I have and get something a bit more up to date since I'm having to upgrade it anyway.Sigless0 -

I understood. But your usage is so rudimentary, that it hardly seems worth spending more than £50.
Perhaps different if you were putting together a rig for specialised tasks, such a video editing or gaming.
But you seem to have made up your mind. So I hope you get some fruitful suggestions.0 -

I already have a PC with the same specs as the one posted. I'd just like something that will last as this one has but is a little more up to date. I don't understand why I need to be running games or specialist tasks to want that.
It seems pointless spending money to replace an old PC with an equally old PC.Sigless0 -
If you really want to refresh old kit then look at the pentium G4400 (or G4500) and a H110 motherboard (get DDR4 capable) plus 2x4gb DDR4 RAM as this be be adequate for what you want. You will still have plenty of change left over from £200 to throw in a SSD as well.
Look on parts picker for pricing:

Forget bundles as you usually end up overpaying for parts that you can source cheaper individually.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

Do I need to point out that you would be replacing an old non working PC with an equally old working PC...for £50
Up to date? What will the 'up to date' PC do that the older one will not, considering your style of usage?
No skin off my back as to what you do with your money. The fact that you want to upgrade for the sake of it is good enough. It's a hobby on it's own.0 -

C2D is a bit too old.
