Barclays payout

I had an Additions Plus account for years which I was told I needed in order to have an overdraft facility after I graduated, and no longer had a student account. I closed the Additions Plus in 2015 after realising it was cheaper to pay the daily overdraft charge (approx 70p) of a standard current account if I ever went overdrawn, than the £15 monthly account fee of Additions Plus. Having read on this website about packaged bank accounts three weeks ago I complained on the Barclays website. Within days I had received a form in the post from them to complete as to why I thought my account had been mis-sold. I couldnt remember the exact date of opening the account but knew I had been paying the monthly fees for some time and never used any of the benefits (travel insurance etc). Last week Barclays phoned me to confirm a few details and told me the account was opened in 2001 with the monthly charges rising to £15 over the years, after giving some further information to the lady she said she would make a decision on my claim within a few days and today I received a payment direct into my bank account from them for £2,650 !
