Holiday Deposit pay in Euros on a debit card?

Heading to Majorca in May 2017 and need to pay a 10% deposit direct to the hotel (we've been before but I cannot recall what we've done)
I have a Nationwide debit card, do I opt to pay in Euros or Sterling? I know to pay the balance when we depart Spain in Euros.
Confused whether charges will apply or exchange rates an issue...
