. regarding Citifinancial it is almost impossible to get a response from them. We have sent many letters by recorded delivery to no avail....
Do you have documentary proof that you agreed a settlement?

Don't send it by recorded delivery, send it by snailmail and get proof of posting (free from the Post Office).

Write the letter to the address I have given.

    Demand:

    1. To know why they chose to send solictors' letters bullying you into making repayments for a debt that had been settled.
    2. That they give you your money back.
    3. That they pay you interest on the money they unlawfully bullied you unto paying
    4. They further compensate you for the trouble and upset they have caused you.
Keep a copy of the letter too.

If you do not get a satisfactory response by the end of September go to the Financial Ombudsman Service. It costs nothing - not even a phone call.

Thanks for the advice- I will be acting on it. One further thing I cant understand is how the ' debt' got passed on to another company when there had been a settlement. It was actually arrow global who came after us and threatened us with court action. I would have thought the company concerned would have checked the situation out before it took on the debt ....?
Could someone also tell me about snailmail ? I enquired at the local post office this morning and they had not heard of it ......

It is a well known phrase to describe standard postage.

    Probably clerical error or miscommunication.

    Seriously? :)

"Snailmail" is the colloquial term for simply putting a first or second class stamp on an envelope and putting it into the post box. It moves at a snail's pace compared to E-Mail etc, hence the name.

Probably a bit insulting to call it snailmail to an employee of the Post Office!
