Mistake Im stupid

Help I've just transferred money from one bank account Halifax to another Halifax account which is closed. Will this be returned to the original account and how long could it take.

    My sister did the same thing with her BOS accounts last year, so I told her to contact BOS and tell them, her funds where stopped and transfer back.
    So contact Halifax
    What happens if you push this button?

    An internal transfer to a closed account should be pretty easy to get sorted. If the money isn't back tomorrow then definitely ring them and explain. And use this as a lesson never to do the same thing with an external transfer, where it's potentially a lot more difficult to resolve.

    Contacted bank said it should bounce back within two days if not contact them again after which could take upto 20 days thank you all learnt my lesson deleted old. Accounts from my account so cannot make same stupid mistake

    Just a thought... was the closed account one that has been switched using CASS?


    I did this - picked an old account out of my payees list (or maybe my mouse slipped as I was about to click :)) and the money didn't arrive where I expected it to go. But it did turn up in the account that replaced the closed account - switching service forwarded the money for me.


    Lesson learned for me was - remove the old account numbers from the list of payees
