Credit Cards in the US

I'm going to be travelling in the States, and I'm trying to work out the best way to use my credit cards to pay for things as we go along.

First of all I have a Halifax One, 0% card for 12 months which I'm using for slow stoozing. When we travel, I will be 3 months into the deal.

Second of all, I have a Nationwide Credit Card, which I understand has the best exchange rate when abroad, but would need to be paid off more quickly.

The question is, which is likely to be best - to use the stoozing card and get the interest for a few months, or to use the better exchange rate but have to pay it off at once?

I can't find an excahange rate for either card, which makes it difficult. So if anyone knows how I can find this, it would also be appreciated.

  • type in visa exchange rate into google and it will take you to the visa page with the info.

As for what card to take there is this factor - halifax now charge 2.95% conversion on foreign transactions and while the interest is lower than your nationwide card you have to choose if you want to encourage HBOS to carry on like this.

Personally I'd stick with nationwide :money:
