Sorry, I navigated away from the page and by the time I came back to write the post there had been updates I hadn't seen which pretty much answer my questions!!
Agree with offering to cook for them and taking a couple of bottles. I'm sure they'll be super happy with that!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Hi,
I've spent time today looking at the old style pages. There is one about Brexit and stocking up. This got me thinking even more about how serious our situation is. We can't risk anything going up etc so it's given me what was needed.... a reminder to sort this debt out for once and for all! Our situation is so dire that could cause serious issues in the future ( more than now) . I'm going to set my self some goals ASAP.0 -
Morning,
I've worked out I need to clear £21,701 worth of debt to afford all out outgoings without relying on overtime etc and taking into account money I won't be getting anymore from next year.
I need to clear:
B/c- £4672
Dh Tesco- £4375
Tesco- £5630
Lloyd's ( dad) £2824
Nuba £4200--- priority due to deal ending in Jan
This is my aim, I know it's a very big aim but once these are paid it should make things less tight which is a massive goal in itself.0 -
Good to have something to aim for. That looks ambitious though. The Nuba has to be the first to go and then then the barclaycard. My dh did £150 worth of overtime last week which will go straight towards the Nuba.0

I have a semi back up plan. If I don't manage to clear my Tesco then I will ask my dad if I can reduce what I pay him monthly to reduce our outgoings next year plus the other minimums should be lower due to paying the minimums e.g mbna we pay £200 off a month £50 interest so that should reduce the minimum by next year by about £40. As long as I clear £10k by this time next year I'm hoping we should be a bit better.0

Morning,
I managed to speak to an estate agent yesterday and asked about bad credit and renting a property and in conclusion it’s what I thought. It would cause an issue esp as there are not a lot of properties available why would they rent it to someone with bad credit. He said the only option would be, to rent direct from ads in the paper, which doesn’t really happen where I live. I really don’t know what to do.
I know this is a few months all now, but a dmp won't affect renting as defaults aren't in the public domain like ccj/dro etc. Rental checks can't do a full credit check just a public one. I have main defaults and have never mentioned them or been asked about them. Private landlords may ask for your credit report which you would provide. Estate Agencies claim to do a full search but they don't/can't.

That's interesting to know, thanks. Has it caused any issues?0 -
I moved 3 times with defaults and it never presented a problem
If you stay with the same agency they do not re do the checks every time you move ........they can also only check for CCJ's and bankruptcies so do not even need to know you are on a DMP
Your margins are so tight , I really would look in to this avenue and let yourselves breath0
