Wednesday 27th July - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Hi everyone
Thanks for the kick off PurpleFairy :A
Bob - good luck with the new venture!!
I've just been reviewing YNAB - have had such a busy month so the meal planning has gone out of the window. Our restaurant/take away bill for July is out of control!! OH found out that he leaves his job next month so that will be the first to go. One of the great things about YNAB/spending diaries is that I can see straight away how we can save a few hundred per month with simple things - no restaurants and take aways, no new clothes, no lunches out, no dog walker. Simple really... We still can't make ends meet if he isn't working but hopefully his job#2 will bring in enough until he gets something else.
Usual stuff from me:
- brekkie at work - free milk
- packed lunch
- home on lunch - not shopping
- tidying round tonight
- not washing my hair
- free ebook
- free kindle game
- called sis after free minutes kicked in
Big love everyone!0 -

Hello Frugalistas,
Not such a big list today. Have a meeting later, & have had to prepare for that plus some other similar community stuff. Anyway, am keeping the MSE faith:
*Washed hair & let it dry naturally.
*The loan paperwork has arrived so we will be reading that through VERY carefully later on.
*Dinner as per meal plans - cheesy courgette pasta using our home grown courgettes & herbs.
*Discuss guests situation with mr f - we have guests coming next week & we need to fine-tune meal plans for then & decide when we are going to do the shopping. An online order may be the best solution.
*Did some surveys - numbers adding up quite nicely now that I'm stepping up my participation rate. They can be so dull, I'd been slacking, but it's good to see points totals increasing.
*Recycled an envelope with a sticky label.
*Water veggie garden & greenhouse.
*Do the ironing - next job for this afternoon. Will only be doing those items which really need it & will switch off to press final garment. It won't save much electricity but it adds up over a year or two.
*All free leisure - knitting Mum's present (only did about 25 rows yesterday which wasn't very productive) & updated my blog.
*Look through shopping voucher stash & see if there's anything we can use this week.
*Mashed cat's dinner from last night with some new food to avoid waste. (He's still wasted it but I haven't given up yet).
That will be it for today. Much bigger list tomorrow, as it's my Big Budget Day.
Cheers all,
f x
Oh, & thanks to those who suggested effective baby sunscreen - it is for cat's ears!! Vet says has to be hypo-allergenic for cats as they try to lick it off.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

My goodness - I can't believe that it's after 2pm already and I've been so busy - on a day I had nothing planned as well.
Had to take the cat to her post op check at the vet this morning - she's got an infection and has lost a load of weight since her op. More expense, both at the vet and on food for her... I do love her but I just wish she'd catch me a financial break once.
So today I have alreadychecked banking and made a PAD to the cc
wombled a free phone upgrade, and recycled my old phone to ds as his birthday present so that's that sorted.
checked various free draws (no luck)
taken the cat to the vet £££££
been to pets at home for 'various' expensive cat food to try and encourage tortie to eat
washing up
load of washing out to dry
fuelled car and checked tyres
And I will alsopack for our trip tomorrow
visit bestie with keys as she's feeding cats for us
crochet
nap (possibly) as I had a rotten night last night
get dh to put the rubbish and recycling out
try not to stress
Hope everyone is doing ok.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
