i need to pay for some goods from canada in the form of a money order in canadian or us dollars that can be cashed in canada. i don't even know what a money order is so help me out a bit here folks?................

You can get one from your (or any) bank or (I believe) a Thomas Cook BdeC.
They are not called money orders in the UK - it's a North American term, mainly. Ask for a foreign currency cheque. They will need to pay it into a bank account. If they want cash see below - or use Moneygram (any Post Office) or Western Union.
You will be unpleasantly surprised at the fee - anything between £10 and £20. Thomas Cook used to be at the cheaper end - don't know if they still are.
If it's under £100 cash by recorded delivery mail will be cheaper. (£100 is the maximum insurable limit - you can send more but at your own risk)0
