I have been told that despite myself studying from April 1999 for three years completing my nurse training I am not eligible for rebate. Can anyone give me any further advice please.

I have now received tax and insurance back £6000 from scphn course 2010-2011 I did my own claim as trust no longer exists I applied in December 2016. I was salaried around £26.000 during the course- so well over the £15000 cut off.

    Hi loulou

What information did they request of you? I did a course through the pct which no longer exists.
I wrote to them initially with two course queries and they wrote back to me saying go back to the trusts you did the course with.

In regards to one course, I have gone back to the trust to put this claim through them. The other I have had to write back to them again and say the pct no longer exists but i have provided them with all other relevant information.

Can you tell me what you wrote to them and how long it took?

Its been nearly a month and still not heard anything back from them

Look smug when you are getting two more years worth State Pension than your friend in years to come.

She'll be happier now but maybe less so when she realises what she might have lost in State Pension entitlement, potentially for 30-40 years of retirement!

This depends on your age I believe and how long you have left etc?

Something similar has happened to a friend of mine. She has contacted the university who have provided proof that she was a seconded student. Maybe try that?

The evidence I submitted was a letter from the trust that had seconded me .... it stated what year I started and what date I left and how much I was salaried.
I happened to have this letter because the new trust I joined when I qualified wanted this information.
I also included the transcript I got from university on completing my course which clearly showed my start and Finnish date and I included my Degree certificate.
I had partial P60s for only 1 year so I included that too.

So I have now had my case resolved. I have recieved 1,665.24 in NI contributions I should never have paid and 6,200 in tax I should never have paid.
It’s been 1 year since starting this journey and it’s finally over.
I still have 30 years of working life left so I have added 3 years to NI contributions.... I had already 21years built up and I need to have 32 years to get state pension.... so just another 14 years instead of 11 years. Very doable considering my age.

Apologies for late reply, hopefully you have got further with your claim?
I sent them a letter stating my trust no longer existed and worded it from template on this website and Hmrc website. I included my contract as on a temp contract for the year to complete the scphn. Uni letter of acceptance, pay slips for the year and my scphn certificate. I sent info middle of December 2016 I received insurance back middle Jan 2017 and tax beggining of march 2017. i did contact the service who won the contract from the previous trust but they couldn't help me as I did the course before they took over the contract and they informed due to data protection they do not keep previous information from previous employees.

    Hello all
I was hoping someone may have come across this situation before and can advise me! I am claiming back my tax for the WAS for a position I am in now (trainee HI therapist for a year).
After a delay from my trusts payroll, I called HMRC last week who sorted out my new tax code and sent it to my employer.
However, I have received a call today from the HMRC children's dept and they are now saying that I do not qualify for my sons 30 free hours at nursery as I am listed as a non-tax payer?!?

Has anyone else had this problem and is there any way to sort this out?

    Thank you in advance!

obviously if you want to claim WAS then by definition you are not a taxpayer. You cannot have your cake and eat it.

    choose between WAS or childcare.

And presumably if you are saying you not an employee you won't be entitled to any State Pension for those years (as you won't be paying any National Insurance.
