How did you get on in the end, Sus59?0

Sorry for the delay in updating and thank you for all your comments and advice. Ended up offering 5K off with a deadline. Deadline was exceeded but I lost the will to fight. If I had known how long it would still take I would have refused, but in the end we exchanged contracts yesterday (original price less 5K) and will complete on Monday. Now we need to do it all over again, put my partner's house on the market and start the search for our new joint home (at least that should be the fun bit). I really think the UK conveyancing process needs a major shake-up. I think any political party who puts that on their agenda would get a lot of votes.0

Glad this leg of it is over for you Sus. I wonder whether the pesky FTB got his 15k off in the end.
I'd leave putting the other house on the market till the market picks up in the spring I think. You've been through the mill this time so I'd leave it till a busier time of year.0 -
I'm confused. How can someone demand a discount based on an event that hasn't happened and which terms are unknown ?
I wouldn't have offered a penny of discount on that basis.0 -

I agree with the people who say give your buyer chance to find another buyer, if you have the time.
I personally don't think the FTB's will pull out, I think they are jst trying it on.
(Whoops, sorry, just seen the rest of the thread, you are completing today!).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
