Ex won't let me leave joint tenancy

OP can give notice on her own which will be valid (providing sufficient notice is given). The problems will arrive if her other half doesn't sign a new tenancy and just stays on. OP and/or the ex can be chased for rent - if the ex has no money they will claim from the OP.0

Although we have both left the house and took most of our belongings,
If your ex moves back into the property during the notice period then you could have a problem but if he has already left then that should not be a major issue.
