Windows 8.1 to 10 help please

I am backing up all important data prior to upgrading to Win 10. So far all has been simple but I can't find a way to save my Windows Live Mail Calendar. All mail and contacts have been exported but can't see a way to do save the calendar.

Would appreciate help from anyone who has done it.

Tried goggle but nothing.

Many thanks.

Surely the calendar entries themselves are stored on windows servers somewhere? They're not locally stored entries.

To be honest, I have no idea.:o Have had 8.1 for only a few months and have never come to terms with it. As long as I could do what I needed to do, I was content.

Is there somewhere I can check this?

    Many thanks

There is a calendar app on the "home" page but I have only ever used the calendar in Windows Live Mail so that it looked like Vista or 7.1.

I am wondering/hoping that the calendar entries will remain when Win 10 is loaded. Can't loose them!!

OH had Win 7 and all his calendar entries have been saved in Win 10.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

    Many thanks.

I think it depends which email account you use.

If you have one of Microsoft's email addresses, eg xxxx@hotmail.com or xxxx@outlook.com, then I think the Calendar should be sync'd online - in which case you could sign in to the outlook.com website to check.

If you have an account with someone else, then it may be stored locally... I don't know the answer in that case

Thanks. I am using Gmail. I have been googling this for hours but can't find an answer.

What happens if you login to Google's web page and look at the Calendar?
It's reached via the 3x3 square symbol at the top right of the Google screen that looks a bit like a Rubik's cube.

    Are your Calendar entries there?

Also, in Windows 8, are you using Windows Live Mail (like you can get on Windows 7, and shows on a window on the desktop) or the quite basic Mail/Calendar app which is usually full-screen?

The Google web page calendar is empty.

I am using Windows Live Mail not the app.

    Many thanks

INSPIRED - so you calendar is on the web then? You have to open a web browser to access it, and the same for your email?
To be absolutely certain, log in on another computer, and I bet your calendar is there, and you've nothing to worry about.

No, calendar and email are/were only accessible in Windows Live Mail. I tested it with my tablet.

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I bit the bullet and downloaded Windows 10. As it says on the box, all files were in their correct place. Took awhile but all seems well - apart from Edge and the graphics.
