These were my second set of sofas (a replacement ) as the first set had been delivered to the wrong address and by the time they arrived at mine they were unpacked and scratched so I returned them. Now for these sofas I rang Scs to tell them of the peeling leather. They sent someone out to repair them but when he arrived and saw them he said that they will continue to peel as the leather has not been treated properly whilst being coloured and was told Scs would get in contact. They didn't I rang. They admitted fault but said they only give refund if i would of reported fault in 24 hours they said they could not repair the sofas either because it would cost them a lot to strip the leather and put new leather on and deliver them again. Then they said that all they can do is let me pick some other sofas at the same price. I went to 2 different Scs stores and didn't like any that were there or for £2040 the amount I spent. I told them I didn't like any other and i wanted my money back as i have a right to get it back as trading standards had told me whilst I discussed it with them. Then Scs said to me that we deal with trading standards all the time if you want to go down that route of small claims court etc you can it doesn't bother us we can deal with that. Now I'm confused as to what I should do. I picked out some other sofas yesterday just to put an end to it and they were more than what I had paid and was told I would have to pay the difference so I didn't buy them. So still stuck and trying to find a way to sort this mess out! scs are at fault but I'm the one suffering. So confused right now
How much is the difference they are asking you to pay?
You have had nearly two years use from you current sofas, surely that is worth something?0 -
Sorry I mixed the dates up the second set was delivered August 2015 and began peeling January 2016. So I've not had it two years. I don't like the sofas there but had to pick some coz I don't really know what else to do. And there was only one that was similar to what I had bought eg all leather corner group, chair, footstool, 3seater. It's £1000 more than what I had paid so I had to leave the footstool out and still £700 that I have to pay on top and I'm not even getting the footstool like I have with these ones. I feel it's unfair for me to have to leave furniture out and pay that much when Scs are at fault. Oh and I asked the repair guy what sort of leather my sofas were and was told they were of the highest quality leather.0

hi anyone, it's me again I ended up buying different sofas from SCS which I was told again high quality leather etc. I paid 500 extra. on the day they were delivered the delivery guys pointed out a fault in the corner sofa which is a huge gap in the middle where the seats are supposed to be together. After examining the sofas I found 12 other fault(scratches,4 little slits/cuts in leather, a tiny hole, a tiny tear in leather and varios flecks on leather where colour is peeled/ missing plus uneven seams and I could go on. They sent a upholsterer to check it and he even said it was manufacturing faults also that if this was his new furniture he wouldn't except it as well.
This is my 3rd replacement. 1st- delivered wrong address. arrived scratched, torn and unpacked 2nd- began to peel as described in last post. now this 3rd one with over 12 faults. The upholsterer said they are unrepairable as it will take 9hrs for him to repair if he were to.which he cant do.
what I want to know is what should I do now. I'm sick of buying faulty sofas of SCS and they've put me off buying sofas from anywhere at all. I also want to know if I were to keep these how much compensation/ money back should I get considering going It is a brand new sofas and I rand em in 24hrs to report faults. Also I have been through almost 2 years of stress which has affected my health and my partners lost 8 days of pay by taking days off for deliveries and upholsterers appointments.0 -

When did you make the most recent purchase - the purchase mentioned in your first sentence?
When was this latest purchase delivered?
You have thirty days following delivery to confirm that the goods conform to contract. If they do not, as it appears here, you can reject the goods for a full refund.
You really need to decide what you want to happen.
As explained, depending on dates, you may be entitled to a full refund.
You could if you wish opt for a replacement suite, but that may depend on the seller to some extent.
If you want to keep the damaged product, then you need to negotiate with the seller on the discount. It is impossible to say how much you should pay as we don't know your purchase price, nor have we seen the 'seriousness' of the damage.
How did you pay for this purchase?

I paid £2500. it was delivered 10 January. I reported faults within 24hrs. The big faults that are unrepairable are the big gap due to the seat cushion not sewn straight causing a gap where the corner sofa is joined in the middle, and a tear near a seam caused by the needle they used to sew the fabric and there's a Wonkey seam at the front and 3 fingernail slits at front and one slit at back of sofa and a tiny pea size hole at where the arm and the front of the sofa joins like a peice has been ripped out and the minor faults that can be touched up are the many spots flecks where theres colour missing and a scratch and some markings in the leather that should not be on visible areas of the sofas that's all I can remember right now.I'm sick of being given faulty sofas again and again and don't think I want to go through it for a 4th time. Theyve put me off buying sofas altogether. That's why I wanted to know how much you think would be reasonable for them to pay back if I kept these faulty ones. They're very stingy when it comes to giving money back.0

I paid cash.0

In my opinion, your best bet is to go for a full refund.
As I said earlier...You have thirty days following delivery to confirm that the goods conform to contract. If they do not, as it appears here, you can reject the goods for a full refund.
Next time, even if you have the cash available, use a credit card for this type of purchase. You can pay off the full card balance before paying any interest if you have the cash to do so, but your consumer protection is so much greater.0 -
it's been over 2 weeks and they've not contacted me nor sent a copy of the report I requested which they had said I'll receive in 4 days. How can they get away with treating people like this.😠0

Have you reminded them that they agreed to send you a copy of the report?
They can 'get away with treating people like this' because people allow them to do so.
Something else has happened in that two weeks -
Since thirty days since delivery have now passed, you have lost your short term right to reject the goods for a full refund.0 -
I reported the faults within 24 hours it is the store that has not contacted me so I can't lose my rights to a refund if they are the ones wasting time. Thank you for replying and helping me. I know I should be calling them and reminding them they should of sent me the report etc but I don't handle stress well like many people do and I'm finding this whole situation very stressful. I will be getting in touch with them in the next few days.0
