Two bays of 5 windows, retaining original stained glass... rough cost?

Just moved in & need to replace the original windows with double glazing. I want to save the original stained glass and get it placed insde the DG. I've got 2 bays of 5 windows. I've got, a local firm and Nolan UPVC Ltd calling in to measure quote. Any idea what sort of ballpark figure I should be looking at?

I had quotes for a 5 bay window and it came in at c1,200 each. Not keeping the same glass though

It wouldn't surprise me if it comes in at least double that of the above post. Using the existing glass is extremely time consuming as they will need to refurb the stained glass. I've looked into doing this in a single pane of stained glass, and it was coming out at nearly double that of a straight replacement.
  • Sounds like specialist so we can only speculate.

just get some quotes from local companies.

All we did years ago was copy that pattern from old to new, Then sell the old ones to make some money back, They will not be worth while trying to re use as the costs will be stupid amounts as per above posts.

you can keep your old glass and it wont cost the eath and be well worth doing . a few things . it wont cost double . changing to NEW ones isn't the first option if the leads are in half decent condition they can be saved . cleaned and encapsulated inside a new double glazed unit and allowed to live again . safe and longer . selling the old ones . I wish . there used to be a small market for special ones but youre lucky to get somebody to take them off you . The new bays will cost more because you may need all dummy sashes when not openers to fit the original leads . Is it just transoms you want to keep ? a company by us New Ferry Glass specialises in this . there will be others around .Nolan Glass are camarthen from google so too far for New Ferry but it gives you some imput as it can be done and I support it if possible . I hate seeing good leads going into the skips.
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
