Excel Puzzle

I've got a little bit of headache with Excel and I am not sure if I am incorporating the best solution?
I have a Excel template that needs to be populated by a source Excel spreadsheet that updates on a daily basis. My solution was to put the source template on tab two and formula drive the initial template matching up the headings where appropriate.
Then all that would need to happen each day is for the raw source data to be input to the file.
Does this make sense and is it a good solution?

So, you need to update a main/front sheet, by manipulating/adding data to a second/backend sheet, then the way you described, I think, its pretty easy do to.0

Does this data auto-populate from the source when opening the file, or is an easy copy/paste?
If yes then what you suggest is a good way.
If no then I'm struggling to see what benefit having a data sheet feeding a template sheet gives ... if you have to manually enter the info in the data sheet, then you could just as easily manually enter it in the template sheet.0 -

If your "raw source data" can be obtained by some sort of query built into the spreadsheet, then no extra input will be required.
If you have no choice but to manually key it in, then the principle of what your are doing is fine - you could even speed up the data entry with an input form if that would make life easier.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. How does the the source data get imported in?
It might be easier to link back to the original source it it's a compatible format0 -
using an Excel table and pivot would be a good combo here, outside of VBA
add the new data to the bottom of the table, the pivot will dynamically incorporate the new data each time you add it, then you just refresh the table0
