Tax credit enquiry

I am presently on tax credits and would like some advice please. Can HMRC still do an enquiry for year ending 2014/15 and if they can when would they advise me.

I believe they can check TC claims going back several years if they have cause to.0

Yes, but only just. If your claim was finalised normally, then the enquiry window will run out on 31 July 2016. The time limit can be longer if you are self-employed or gave an estimated income.
However, HMRC also have discovery powers so if there is fraud or negligence they can re-open 2014/15 at any point. This isn't an enquiry (which is under Section 19 Tax Credit Act) but a discovery (under Section 20 Tax Credit Act)
