hi have just had a default put on my credit report from british gas ..i have been awaiting a visit from them to fix/ install new meter as it had blank screen ..this was over 18 months period and was recieving inflated estimates...had two meter readers out who both said they would report an get someone out and telephoned myself ..never paid anything towards bills in this period ..finally got new meter 3 weeks ago and they have been taking readings to gage usage..the total bill has been brought down by £500 and i have paid it . they are refusing to remove the default and i have argued that it is unfair as i did not have a working meter in the house which they new of...is there anything i can do about this..i have been dealing with the complaint dept

BG are serial offenders when it comes to abuse of the credit reporting system. They are quite the worst energy supplier in this respect. Ultimately you may need to take it to the ombudsman, but when finally sorted, ditch them and tell them why you're doing so in no uncertain terms.
Go to EDF, who don't report to CRAs as far as I know.0 -
Hi
Just to expand on GingerBob’s post, you can complain to the Energy Ombudsman about a fuel supplier, and the Financial Ombudsman Service about credit reference issues.
