  • Good morning, an opportunity to catch up with banking and computery things this morning whilst working from home, it was a very spendy day yesterday as I paid for our flights and they were more expensive than planned. I did do a search and went through cashback or course but it does mean that this month will be fairly tight.

    Good thing my first grocery shop of the month was successful, I picked up lots of ys items from T@sco and this reduced the shop from a full price of £62.34 to £48.98 with the reductions. The best purchase was some cherries reduced from £7.81 :eek: to 73p! :D Who would pay nearly £8 for cherries, not me for sure.

    As well as the flights I also paid for travel insurance, I decided to buy an annual package for the family in case we are lucky enough to jet off somewhere else over the next year.

    I have planned ynab up until my next payday on 15th, it is very tight but I do have £200 in reserve should we need it although I won't be sharing that with the family so we have to stick to budgets. I should get my mileage expenses from second job before then which will help.

    One thing I haven't mentioned before was that we have been paying for dd bed for a few months, the last payment will be in March and this will give us another £41 back in the budget each month so slowly getting straight.

    I need to change my signature as the flights fund will now be the holiday spends fund for May, that is not far away and I want to enjoy our time in Germany without worrying about money.

    H x
  • Afternoon H,

    Fantastic result on the shopping, I too begrudge spending that amount on cherries.

    You're doing really well and a extra £41 will also make a difference too and kids do need a bed.

    Well thank Crunchie it's Friday! Always glad to be home on a Friday evening to chill out and actually have the weekend off.

    I have been very good (although should be doing it anyway) yesterday I made sure I had my main meal at lunch time so that I wouldn't be hungry later in the evening and just grab a snack. I also took a drink with me, I arrived at my destination early but instead of popping in to a fast food outlet for a coffee I had my drink and definitely didn't need anything to eat. Today has also been a no spend day. Plenty of fruit and food to eat at home.

    Nothing else going on today, need to start stripping the wallpaper in ds room tomorrow so we can get ready for the next stage of decorating.

    Present neutral funds:
    * Some added to paypal today so this now stands at £18.52
    * £10 Sainsbob

    I need to catch up on some more surveys as just haven't had time.

  • Been a busy bee so far today, decided not to be so lazy and get rid of all the junk in the front garden to the tip - this has obviously saved a pretty packet by not having to get a skip. We'd forgotten how much space there was and we can sort out the flower bed area properly.

    I have done 5 loads of laundry, currently at different stages of washing, drying and putting away. It was quite sunny this morning so most of it has been outside but sky is looking overcast now so I don't think I'll get any more out.

    Paperwork has arrived to transfer kids trust funds to a junior ISA with a different building society with a much better interest rate for them. I'd really like both kids to have at least £1000 in there when they turn 18, so far dd has £678 and ds has £450 we will make this a priority when debt free.

    We haven't started on ds room so will need to do tomorrow.

    I've completed a few surveys, frustratingly one only needs 5 points before I can request another voucher!

    A low spend day today just a few cleaning products and toilet rolls from H*me Barg**ns, although dh wants to make a chicken recipe for tea that would involve a trip to the supermarket. I'm currently keeping quiet about it to try and drag it out so hopefully he won't be bothered and have something from home.

    As thought I'm itching to get started on paying down the overdraft but can't do anything at present, I need to pay for dd school meals online and ds after school fees for the week. 11 days until pay day, I will definitely need to fill up the car will fuel before then and the kids climbing lessons need to be paid.

    Hope everyone having a good weekend, H x
  • Hmm scratching my head because nothing is tallying and we're skinter than I thought for the week, my ynab and account have a difference of £34.30 which I don't know where it's gone. Nothing is scheduled to go out other than what I have already allocated, all my records match apart from this amount.

    DH has purchased a few things so I will need to transfer the savings for a few days to make sure the mortgage payment goes out, this still leaves food, fuel and kids climbing lessons to pay for with 9 days until pay day.

    A very frustrated H x

    Have you figured out where the short fall is coming from yet?

    Annoying on the overdraft. I know what you mean. I keep looking at my signature and wanting it gone. But it will be soon!

  • Well I haven't figured out where the money is, maybe I overlooked something on ynab when I entered lots of transactions on the same day definitely need to update daily. I've had to count it as an adjustment for now, money moved around for mortgage payment tomorrow. Still need to conjure up something for food but I'm hoping that I don't need any fuel, I don't have any long journeys this week.

    Another few surveys completed, now have a £5 Amazon voucher for present fund sitting in my emails this is now looking as:

    * Paypal £18.52
    * £10 Sainsbob
    * Amazon £5

    Ds didn't go climbing yesterday so I haven't paid his fees, dd is due to go tomorrow so I'll have to put it on the secret cc (secret because dh doesn't know I have it not an extra one!).

    8 days to get through! H x (not moaning btw I know I have a lovely holiday coming up)
  • Hiya,

    Minor slip up, so please don't beat yourself up.

    Your extras look good, don't have time to do surveys at the moment.

    Xx
