Employment Reference - Renting

Hi,
I've just signed up to rent a house and have passed all the referencing checks except my employer has told the referencing agency that I am on a fixed term contract of employment when I am actually on a permanent contract.
The only reason I can find for them doing this is that they informed our department one month ago that it will be relocating 250 miles away as of 31st October 2017 and we will be made redundant if we don't find another position within our office or relocate to the new office. However, we are not under formal notice of redundancy and have not been issued any paperwork or new contracts.
I've provided the referencing agents with my contract which has no end date but they won't accept this and insist I must have been issued a new one as they have been told by my company's HR department that I am on a fixed term contract. Surely until we have been issued formal notice of redundancy (which won't be for another year yet) I am still classed as a permanent employee?
Thanks in advance
