Unsure of options if I want to cancel holiday...

Hi, this may be in the wrong place apologies if so.

I booked a 7 night cruise for later in the summer with a friend. The operating company seemed quite new but promoted and payments managed by a well known Tour website. Reviews of the tour were decent at the time.

We've been keeping an eye on reviews as summer went on and it seems the good reviews may be fake, and there are extremely bad reviews from other travellers. Suggestions of sewage leaking into cabins, engine fumes leaking and making people sick, very rude staff, the company asking for more money for things 'included' in the trip, and not docking correctly at ports etc.

A lot of reviews say that most travellers have enough and leave the boat before the week is over and do their own thing at their own cost.

We have paid in full (me on CC, friend on debit card) which is non refundable but now slightly concerned about what to expect.
I'm more than happy to breakaway and book our own accommodation and ferries if it comes to it, but I wondered if anyone had experience of getting a cruise/tour refunded purely from bad reviews instead of an actual bad experience?

Thanks!

  • Reviews are subjective and I've never known a company refund before someone's travelled, based purely on bad reviews.

You have no hope whatsoever of a cruise line refunding on the basis that some other people didn't like it. Try to go with an open mind, if it is dreadful complain whilst you are on the ship and take photographs. I cannot recall hearing of people abandoning a cruise midway, if you tell us, some people who have already cruised may be able to put your mind at rest

    Thanks for opinions, much appreciated.

I think 'cruise' is a loose term from the company - more a 7 day/night boat tour around some islands, and people stay in a cabin on the boat. Its catered for young adults with optional boat parties etc. If there was an upper age limit I'd be pretty close to it!

We've agreed to go with an open mind and see what happens!

    Thanks

Make sure you take copies of any descriptions of the holiday ,cabin etc with you. If it doesn't match up you will have the info there .
