Why do you think you had a policy cancelled?

Unless you know the company that cancelled it (when you can contact them about it) there's no way you can find your "history"
  • i was not very good with my money and rarely had enough left to cover direct debits.
there must be a way to check history as i have heard that insurers check history if a claim is made to check the validity of the policy holder

have you checked your paperwork, or old bank statements for a reference/policy no?

Policies tend to last 12 months although some might auto renew, but if you were not paying, you must have had some correspondence chasing payment....

If you failed to pay a dd the policy would have been cancelled.
