Changes to twitter ???

Just a heads up for people to check their notification settings on Twitter. Noticed this last week a change to the way "lists" are accessed from the tab but also noticed I've had email notifications of mentions & replies but not had them on twitter. After finding another in my email box this morning I've checked my web notification settings. Not sure what it was before but all mine were now ticked "tailored for you" !! I've re ticked them .. mentions & replies in particular "By anyone" Could be a disaster for those that have email notifications turned off.

Not even sure if "web settings" is the right option now . It does say in there "These settings do not change your notifications timeline." I wonder if anyone is a bit more Twitter savy here. Definitely something has changed or is wrong as it appears I'm not the only one to have emails but not twitter notifications. Maybe safe to keep your email notifications on for mentions/replies until we know if its just a blip or a change by TW.

Thank you very much lynwestie for letting us know! I've just been on my Twitter too and the same thing had happened, all of my notifications had changed to "tailored for you". I'm sure that previously it was on "by anyone" as when I first set the account up, I purposely checked all of my settings! I hadn't missed anything important but may have done in the future had you not pointed it out, so thanks again :beer:

What I'm not sure about though is if changing these settings will actually alter our notification timeline on twitter or just give us more on our various devices...

I've searched all through my notifications and mentions on Tw and cannot find the 3 "replies" I've had email notifications for over this last few days. OK they weren't important but they could have been.

I'm not sure on that either because I choose not to have email notifications at all. Since changing my settings though, I've had a conversation with a brand (which before I changed the settings back to "by anyone" wasn't there) appear back in my notifications feed as well as being in my "mentions" feed.

As this is an old conversation (about 3 days ago), I guess i'll have to wait to see if any new communcation show as a notification on twitter or not.

Thanks Stef. So would seem to indicate there is a connection to our timeline & those settings. Will keep my email notifications on and just monitor things extra closely.

I've seen several tweets moaning about changes. My problem - on my iPad home page the Twitter icon has always had a little red number in the top right hand corner indicating how many notifications I have; new followers, likes for my tweets, retweets and responses in conversations (and wins on rare occasions!). When I opened the app I could see all the new activity under notifications, then the number disappeared til I got another new one. Now when I open the app there is nothing new showing, and the number remains unless I open Twitter through Google, when I can see new notifications. Someone at Twitter HQ is fiddling with things!
