Return (refund) my camera to Currys

Options
Hi all I took my camera that I bought Last Wednesday back to Curry's yesterday and said I no longer wanted it. I never used it I only nosed at it. I wanted a refund BUT they would not give me one!!!! I said I have not TOUCHED the item just looked into the box.

She said unless faulty or unopened I can't get my money back.
So WHAT is the point of a receipt that says u CAN take it back? I'm lost? Please help :money:

I'm sure someone will be along with a more technical explanation, but as far as I'm aware, for in-store purchases, you have no legal right to a refund just because you changed your mind.

As far as I am aware you can only take back unwanted items to Currys/PC World if the box has not been opened.

Legally you no rights to return unwanted goods you have to rely on store policy or their discretion.

    From their website, it states:
An unwanted product can be returned for a full refund within 21 days of delivery as long as it’s still in its original, unopened packaging. This returns policy for unopened goods is in addition to your statutory rights and applies to purchases made in store, online or over the phone.

As you have opened the box, then you are no longer eligible for a refund.

Their offer of a refund for unopened items is beyond what they legally have to do. Shop bought items have no refund rights unless faulty.

Once the box has been opened, it devalues the item. If you were not sure, then the best thing to do would have been to ask to view it in the shop - they often have them out on display, so no need to open the box.

You could perhaps ask to exchange it for something else, but this would be as a good will gesture.

Your only other option is keeping it or selling it on.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It's relatively simple - if you were in Currys and they said to you "I can give you this unopened one or this opened one but for the same price" which would you pick?

Currys would have to take the hit on selling the item cheaper (and as second hand) when there is nothing wrong with it.

Most currys stores give you the option to inspect and demo the camera in store.

You can use this as a selling point when you list the item on E-Bay.

You really have no right to a refund from Curry's in the circumstances you describe.

    Sorry.

You got lucky. Do not rely on them taking back another opened, unwanted item.
