3rd Party Insurance company haven't paid for hire car

I was in an accident back in January, in which a car hit the lady behind me, who then hit the back of my car.
My car was declared undriveable at the time and so my insurance put me through to a car hire company, who gave me a hire car 2 days later - I signed an agreement, which said the payment would be sought from the 3rd party insurance company. I had 2 cars, the first one for 2 days and the 2nd one for a week - (I had a week of holiday in the middle, where a car wasn't needed).
Today, in July, I have just opened a letter from a solicitor, who say that the car hire company are writing to inform me that the other driver's insurance have not paid for the hire car.
The car hire company are starting legal proceedings on the other driver and they need information from me.
It says that the car hire company are responsible for legal fees.
I'm very inexperienced with this whole situation and don't want to end up out of pocket.
Should I return the information (accident location, personal losses) to the solicitor?
Do I need to be aware of any charges which could fall back on me?
Many thanks

You won't end up out of pocket unless you don't cooperate with their request to assist over any legal proceedings they take to get paid. (Eg apart from information they want you may be required to attend a hearing if it ends up in court)
(Or you haven't told the truth regarding the circumstances of the incident/ your need for a car etc)0
