Chrome not working since BB switch

I switched my broadband provider from Virgin to PlusNet a few weeks ago and ever since I haven't been able to open Chrome properly on my laptop. Chrome takes ages to load and I get the spinning circle for ages and eventually it says "page unresponsive". Internet Explorer works ok however.

Also Chrome works fine on my smartphone.

Just wondered if anybody had any ideas how to fix this?

    Is Chrome VMs chosen browser?
Many years ago the ISPs used to provide a disc for installing the internet, this used to contain an ISP specific version of internet explorer and changing ISPs would often leave your browser broken.
