Help to buy ISA

Options
Hello,

I have a question regarding a help to buy ISA: -

I currently own a flat (with mortgage), and will be getting married later this year. My question is will my future wife be able to get a help to buy ISA that we can then use to buy a house in a couple of years time? She is not listed on my mortgage or flat deeds, and has never bought a flat.
Also if she can get a help to buy ISA for a future house purchase, would we be able to get a joint mortgage for that?
Just to potentially complicate things further, she is a British national overseas (from Hong Kong), and will be living/working in the UK on a spouse visa.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Obviously if it is not possible at all for her to get a Help to Buy ISA, we will simply add her to my existing flat deeds.

Not sure how (if at all) the overseas part changes things, but in standard circumstances your partner would be eligible for a help to buy ISA, which she could use to buy a property jointly with you. Her having a HTB ISA wouldn't prevent the two of you from getting a mortgage together.

Thanks for the response. Ideally we would like to have her on the deeds to the flat I already own so that we are joint owners. Do you think we can do this and yet still have her open a help to buy ISA? Technically she didn't buy a property...

No, she would no longer be a FTB

What this "technically she didn't buy a property" pish? Have you gone to the HTB website and read the FAQ?
