This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone.
It's very white outside, lots of low cloud so most of my horizon is shrouded. It feels like living in candy floss.
Yesterday was a good day for me even if I ended up spending money. The weather on Arran was sunny so I caught the best of the day for the rain started in the early evening.
Today I have a quick trip to the tip to look forward to with all the packaging from the new table. Then I having lunch with an elderly neighbour, I think she wants me to help her with her IT. No spending today then.
The new layout of my living room isn't right yet, or maybe I just have to get used to it and live with it a while. I not sure.
I won't get up yet.
Happy Sunday everyone.0 -
Morning Gers and all who follow. Thanks for starting us off. Once again a post has disappeared on me, aaargh!
I had another bad night. Once I start getting warm in bed all the insect bites I got on the moorland the other day start itching like mad. Then sleep is out of the question.
We have the outside chance of a shower today but I got all the washing dry yesterday so no matter! I am waiting for it cool down before I even think of ironing what needs it. These days it's the bare minimum!
Just got some sliced lamb (which I froze in mint gravy) out for Mr TA's lunch. I've never taken to lamb myself so I'll probably have fish or chicken. We'll have with baby new potatoes and assorted veg. I got well stocked up yesterday at Aldi and, for once, the Super 6 at 39p each was to my liking and I stocked up on all of them. Bargain! Some nice strawberries for after.
DD and her bf are having a lovely childfree break in Spain and yesterday she WhatsApped me a selection of photos of scenery and the cocktail she was enjoying! Both looked very tempting! Not heard anything from the DGDs so assuming all is well and they are having a nice holiday with the other grandparents. They are all due back Wednesday.
Have a nice Sunday and (((HUGS))) where needed/wanted. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Still hot weather here but not quite so bad. My feet are becoming less swollen and as the heat made me queasy yesterday I stuck to fluids.
I need to tidy kitchen and load dishwasher this morning, have leisurely shower and shampoo and look out an outfit to go to cinema with dd later in York. Hoping to get seats for Star Trek.
Two DDs and SIl are in France for a few days and are having a lovely relaxing time. They have been working so hard they really need the break.
Youngest dd has a second interview for a job in August just before she goes on holiday so fingers crossed.
Decided to stick to fluids for most of today and then have something like an omelette tonight.

Is there nothing you can get from the chemist to soothe the insect bites? Not medical advice but bicarb of soda mixed with water into a paste might help soothe the itch. It could be worth a try.

Morning All
Not much happening here, no washing to do. DW emptied but that's about it.
I'll do some more sewing today, quite enjoying it now I know how to use the machine properly.
Need to feed neighbours rabbits and give them a bit of a clean out. Their budgie is driving me mad, it makes so much noise when the TV is on! Good job I mainly listen to the radio.
Have a good Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
It's bright but seems to be a lot cooler, thank heavens, neither of us is good in heat these days. I think tolerance to heat gets less as you get older.
Need to cook lunch today, we are out at Dd2's for tea, think it's a family gathering. Even my x is going to be there.
Need to get up shortly, hair requires a wash, and I need to prep the veg for lunch. I had none of our breakfast fruit left so we had cornflakes, will call at Morrison in town as we go to Dd's. I also need to put fuel in the tank,. We have not used so much this month, so the tank is only half empty. Money to go into the savings for our holiday.
Time to get up, cheers.0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for the thread Gers.
Spent a few hours gardening at the church yesterday. I lifted and split a bed of hellebores. Some have been potted up ready to go back in once the building works are finished. Some I gave away and some I planted at home. Went to a friends for a BBQ in the evening. I made chocolate mousse from the nigella express book. I refrained - far too rich for me, but all 12 were eaten and raved about (did them in ramekins with a sliced strawberry on top).
Today I am taking ds1 to work for an extra shift. Then DH has ordered a tesco shop to come at noon for the scouts. After than we need to go to Biggin hill to collect a minibus, then meet the scouts and parents at 8 to collect kit bags. In between I will be washing and ironing as there's a huge pile - sure it breeds
Hope you all have a great day

Good Morning chums ,hot and a bit humid at the moment here in north Kent I was hoping to take the DGS and my DD to the coast today, but I'm not too sure what the roads will be like, as we enjoy Westgate the best and the A2 and M2 are a bit busy with Dover bound traffic.
Managed to get my last shop before the holiday for £22 odd so I'm pleased as I don't have to go anywhere near a shop for awhile. All fruit and veg topped up and my freezer and fridge is full to bursting.
Picked up some Linwood Barclay books I had ordered from the library as well yesterday so plenty to read.
All my menus are done as well and apart from a small amount of ironing which I will do in the evening I intend to relax as much as I can,I'm not good in hot weather as I am so fair skinned and really feel the heat once it gets over 21c:)
Hope everyone else is enjoying it though.
Have a good day chums

Morning everyone,
Later posting today, sunny and warm here, had early morning cuppa in the garden.
Lovely day yesterday with DSIL and youngest niece for lunch, Mum enjoyed catching up on all the news and we are all looking forward to eldest niece's wedding which is just over three weeks away.
Mum seems a bit better this weekend, fingers crossed but so far no sickness this weekend and has enjoyed her food more. Her scan appointmnet has come through for Monday 1st so not too bad a wait.
Anyways, Archers theme song has started so that's me, have a good Sunday everyone xx0 -

Morning all
I got up early and did the necessary housework whilst it was cool, then went back to bed at 7 and got up at 8, I had intended to go back to sleep but hubby had other ideas!
We've now had breakfast, fed the fish and hung washing on the line, it's still fairly cool here but supposed to warm up this afternoon.
We will watch to Grand Prix later, it's Hungary this week, the qualifying yesterday was plagued with torrential rain and drivers sliding off the track.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
