False claim against me - how's this for crazy!

Somebody made a false claim against me and now my car insurance has doubled.
I was parked in a car park whilst out shopping and when I returned to my car some lunatic was parked behind me and started accusing me of hitting his car earlier on, demanded money to pay for the damage and refused to leave unless I did. I reported it to the police and then my insurance company. A month later, after hearing nothing, the guy takes out a claim in the county court for repairs to his car, claiming I'm responsible. I got an engineer's report that proves my car wasn't involved in a collision and yet my insurance company's solicitors dealing with the claim were unable to prevent it going to court. The solicitors for the claimant (and get this!) are saynig that my car wasn't damaged in the alleged accident but still enough damage was sustained by the claimant's car to amount to almost 6 grand in repairs. It's ridiculous. What part of the engineer's report don't they understand I wonder. I can't believe it's even going to court. It's just crazy. It's still unresolved because the case has yet to be heard but in the mean time my insurance has doubled

Until the claim has been dealt with, however flimsy it is, you are deemed to be at fault when buying car insurance. Once it has been resolved, hopefully in your favour, the price will be adjusted.0

Well ye of course it's still going to court! Liability is for the judge to decide.
Out of curiosity what damage was on his car and what car was it?0 -
Setting off the pedestrian safety system can cause that sort of cost of damage, new bonnet hinges, airbags, ECU - it soon mounts up. However, it would be poor design if the system is capable of being deployed if the vehicle is not moving without the keys present.0

No court or sol would entertain this without whitness statements.0

Of course your solicitors can't stop it from going to court - only the person who launches the action can do that. But that doesn't mean the other person will WIN in court...0

Apparently the increase in fraudulent claims is the reason why we're all paying more for our car insurance.0

And when the op wins, they can claim back any extra money that they paid out for their insurance from the person who took them to Court for the false damages.Never Knowingly Understood.
