Agreed, but that doesn't seem to prevent plenty of people turning their gas boiler off completely during the summer & heating the water instead with an immersion heater!0

Switching off the gas in the summer months, and using the immersion heater, can make sense if you have Economy 7.
Some people have E7 even with gas0 -

basically ive looked at my bill.
i used 34 units which were all charged at 4.266pence unit rate this is the only unit rate.0 -
yes its definately £7 per month. theres no standing charge. the bill was £15 for 34 units which was for 31 days. and so i done a test over 24hours and the meter went round by over half a unit. which is bout £7.
If so, I suspect you're reading the meter incorrectly, and that 'once round' is some sub-division of a unit - probably 1/1000th of a cubic metre.0 -
