Choosing energy! Confused! Different charges. Plz help
Hi all.
I am looking to switch my energy suppliers for both fuel.
When I check here, MSE energy club showing me first 2 cheapest are npower and Scot power.
If I choose to go with Scot power than still there is problem.
Standing charges showing for both gas and electricity are different on MSE energy club than on Scottish power website. Huge difference of 10p in standing charge.
Is that just mistake or I will get the same what it says on MSE energy club.
Your experience will make a difference.
Thank you.

i have just had the same problem with moneysavingsupermarket and gb energy, looking at their fixed tarriff and both sites give different prices for kwh and standing charge. came here to ask the same question. there's a difference of £40 more yr spend on the g.b.site. do comparison sites offer cheaper prices?0

That's a big difference. Exactly which tariff are you talking about, and what are the rates on both sites?Stompa0 -
Unless it's a collective deal, the tariff offered should match the supplier's own website. Note that some show the rates & charges without VAT (5% on domestic supplies) , but that isn't going to make a 10p difference on the daily charge.
It could be noticeable on annual costs though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. It's Scottish power for 1 year fixed ending Aug 2017..0

Sosumi is right. I found it.
Aug 2017 is showing 8p standing
July 2017 is showing 20p standing.
All set going for Scot power,0 -
Well GB is quite high in rates than others like npower, Scot power...
Do you have any good experience with GB?0 -
As pointed out HERE, SP's new tariff structure is weird.
Well it's not all that weird as the tariffs with the lower standing charge have higher unit prices. So which one to pick will depend on your anticipated usage. For me (a relatively low user), the annual difference between the two tariffs would be less than £4.Stompa0 -

View it however you wish.
But it wasn’t you who was able to spot what was causing the OP’s confusion.
What’s weird, as I pointed out in my posting to which I provided a link, is a two-year tariff that’s £106 a year cheaper (for some) than the same supplier’s concurrent one-year tariff.0 -
