I was following a motorway maintenance vehicle and some gravel/grit came off the back and hit my windscreen

Are these vehicles under one company I could claim off. I didn't get the registration

That happened to me a few years back. Just put it down to one of those things and possibly if I was further away from the lorry it wouldn't have happened. Could quite have easily been a car throwing up a stone.
  • How are you meant to identify the vehicle if you didn't get the reg?

You would be surprised at the number of vehicles that carry 'Motorway Maintenance' stickers that haven't been within 10 miles of a motorway or the companies have never had any connection with motorway maintenance tasks.

Case in point. Local housing estate being built has numerous vehicles, including diggers, with that sticker on them

Most wind screen breakages on motorways are caused by something thrown up by other vehicles. I've never heard of anyone being able to claim from them, and you don't even know who this was.

Yes, there is a company you can claim off.

If I saw one of them, I would keep my distance or quickly overtake (when it's safe).

Ah yes, that clears it up. There's only one of those in the entire UK.
