hi, the other half first started his insurance in february, never had insurance before.

Now looking at a new car, so he wants to change insurers. (its £200 cheaper)

so.. will he lose his 7 months ncb, or will it carry on between insurers?

that 1 yr ncb means a substantial saving see!!:o
thanks

He'll lose his NCB for that year. He'd be better just notifying a change of vehicle on the current policy. Even though it's probably more than he can insure it for elsewhere, the first year NCB is the one that gives the biggest discount.
