Drink Driving - Third Party Cover

I'm not sure if this is in the right section but I'm wondering if anyone could help me.
In 2014 I crashed into a lamppost under the influence of alcohol so my fully comp car insurance couldn't cover the property damage but they said they'd go to court if needs be and cover it as third party and get back to me.
Ive just received a letter off said car insurance asking for me to contact them with settlement proposals for £1500 property damage.
Im just wondering if there is a time limit for them to get back to me as it was almost three years ago I kind of thought it would have all been brushed under the carpet by now.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

The time limit for commencing legal action against you to recover a debt is six years.
So no mileage down that avenue.
If you can't afford it see if they'll let you pay on the drip0 -
Which Insurer were you with and what is the exact wording in the policy they're relying on to recover the money from you under?0
