Buyer Protection - Custom Made Item

in Ebay, auctions, car boot sales, post & parcels
Hoping someone can help, I was about to order a custom made item of clothing from China when I found out that paypal exclude customised items from buyer protection, however from what I can see custom made items are not excluded from the Ebay buyer protection. Can any one confirm if I would be covered by the Ebay guarantee if the item fails to arrive or is not as described?

    It really depends on how much customising the item needs- ie is it made for you or just chosen from a range of possible options?

    Also, just in case this is clothing, be careful- Many Far East sellers show photos of clothing taken from other websites, and then knock up a very bad and cheap copy!

    Lastly, remember when calculating how much of a bargain it is that you need to factor in handling and import charges.

    Its a costume for a convention, they have a range of sizes but also offer a custom made option so would be made specifically to fit me. I'm not expecting it to be brilliant quality to be honest, just so long as I get 1 days wear from it for a very specific event I'm attending. It's not a great deal of money (under £50) but it is an amount I wouldn't be happy to just throw away either. At the price quoted I'm happy to pay customs on top and still consider it reasonable.

    That would probably be Ok then, I always worry about prom or wedding dresses. Also factor in a lengthy delivery time, so depending when you need it (Discworld or Nine Worlds by any chance?) you might be too late. I buy a lot from the Far East and delivery can vary between 10 and 40+ days!

    Destination Star Trek in October :j so should be plenty of time if I order today.

    So the ebay guarantee will cover for a INR - what about a SNAD - if it arrives and isn't the right measurements?

    You will be covered if different to what was ordered but bear in mind you may need to return it.
