This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
I've been up since 3am, I must have been snoring so hubby tapped on my pillow to wake me and then I couldn't get back to sleep again.
I've spent time re-jigging my budget for the next school year, checking out the submission guidelines for various magazines and editing some of my stories.
I'm now going to try for a snooze before the alarm goes off and it's time to take hubby to work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning, thank you Hester, I hope you have been able to have a snooze.
It is so warm I haven't been able to sleep well and Himself has been in and out of bed like a fiddler's elbow.
We don't have a great deal planned today, we are popping into town for a few things, but other than that go with th flow. We were quite productive yesterday, did the shopping, Himself put a new console table together for me and he has started taking apart a chest of drawers from upstairs. He will be able to make use of the wood when he gets some inspiration.
Two lots of washing done yesterday, one of which I put out last night so should be nearly dry once the dew has lifted. The house is clean, bathroom cleaned with fresh towels. The GP has changed my BP tablets and I have felt so tired this week so I don't know whether it is the new tabs or a combination of the heat and the tabs. Lyn suggested I read the paper that comes in the tablet box so I am going to do that in a minute. hopefully once I get used to them I will be fine, the BP is fine.
Lainey I am sure you will be relieved to have Mum at your home this weekend, and know you will spoil her,
Will be watching the Hungarian GP tomorrow
Have a good weekend all

Morning all, ive been pottering about since 3.30 too, I have slept but got too hot, even with the window wide open and no bedlinen so I got up. I am usually quite a cold person so am not complaining or not much.
I've got towels finishing in the washing machine, OH can put them out for me when he gets up, I am thinking of entering his name for some form of agility competition for men since he is perfecting his spiderman techniques with climbing out and in. He is younger, more agile and lighter than me so he can be the one who wriggles out, I would just bang my head, break the windowsill or some other stupid thing.
OH will be shopping later, he likes shopping, but not sure which sm he will favour this week, it depends on which one has sent vouchers or offers of extra points this week.
I need to attack the ironing basket yet again, have been avoiding it and my new excuse is the heat. Also, it doesn't help much that I have not been at my best this week. But I must do it, I need to ensure that there are enough work clothes to last me through the week. Fortunately I don't have to worry about work clothes for anyone else.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone,
Beautiful sunny day here, wall to wall blue sky and it's set to be another warm one.
Thanks for staring us off Hester, do hope you managed to get back to sleep.
Good idea from Lyn to check out the instructions on the new tabs Candlelight, sorry you have felt so tired, the heat probably hasn't helped either.
You are right about Mum coming over, she has a hair appointment first thing, which will make her feel better am sure, so will drive over and get her after that. My DSIL is coming over later with our youngest niece so we can all sit in the garden, providing we are not inundated with thunder bugs!
Did a lot of my chores yesterday but need to get some washing on as didn't do any yesterday what with waiting for the plumber and not knowing when exactly he would turn up etc, toilet all sorted now though.
Anyways, my cuppa is getting cold, have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself up and enjoying first cuppas of the day, he has just eaten a slice of Chocolate Cream pie for brekkie, I've just had my normal porridge! The chocolate cream pie was HM by myself yesterday afternoon, it's absolutely delish but don't want to think about the calorie count. I did have some, but looking at it this morning, it's one of those desserts' that needs to be made and left in the fridge overnight, when I make it again we'll do that. I'm working this morning. Boys still in their pits.
Now light bright, sunny and warm, yesterday was quite overcast which did bring some fine rain for a while in the morning, but then dried up and was hot and humid until the skies cleared.
I was reasonably productive, got the food shopping done, rang the Doctors as I've still got a rash at times from the allergic reaction, was given an appointment for an hour later, and saw the NP - who says that I'll probably need to be on these meds for quite a while, then it's a matter of being weaned off them etc.
Dinner last night was burgers, sausages, salt and pepper beef kebabs, DH's idea to get the bbq out, but he was then late home, so I decided to cook the food in the oven and on the griddle pan, so we ended up with the above meat type dishes, then some roasted new pots, a dish of herby roasted veg (yellow peppers, onion, courgettes, tomatoes and mushrooms). I decided not to give DH a meat kebab as he's so fussy about meat, he moaned when it was served that he hadn't got one so gave him 1 of mine and he said they were lovely, which they were, but I just wish he'd make his mind up, he loves burgers, which I think can be full of not nice meat, I'll don't think I'll ever get to understand how his mind works! Although I do know that some days he'll like something and I can give him exactly the same thing a week later and he says he doesn't like it!
After doing the food shopping yesterday when I got home the fridge was so full I had to play fridge tetris to get everything in, but mananged it eventually, I made some space as todnight's dinner all the meat/fish is already in the freezer. Really need to have a stock take of what is in both freezers.
Tonight dinner is going to be surf and turf, I remembered to get the steaks and salmon out to defrost overnight, I'll be serving that with chunky chips, onion rings, peas and mushrooms.
Have had a bit of a low mood for last couple of days but today feeling a bit brighter even though I'm working this morning. Will just be chilling this weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. I'm back with you after our 6 days at the caravan. It was just so hot in the caravan we spent as much time out of it as possible! Meals were cobbled together outside under the big umbrella and, where poss, cooked in the microwave. It was like a sauna in there and far too hot to hang over the hob and have the oven on in there!
We didn't do much at all, other than sit reading in the shade. We finally had our day picking bilberries on the moorland round Brimham Rocks on Thursday when it felt marginally cooler. Between us we picked about six and a half pounds, which is an awful lot of bilberries when you consider the size of them! They are now stashed away in the freezer to be enjoyed in pies or crumbles in the winter months.
We called for our yummy eggs at the farm across the next field before we left and he told us his grandsons had seen two otters in the river this week. Wow that's a first and we missed them! Next time we go we will definitely make time for otter spotting!
I've just pegged out two full wash loads of the bedding, towels, clothes etc we brought back and still another washload to join them when the wm stops. This hot weather does generate an awful lot of washing!
Well the fridge desperately needs stocking up, as well as supplies of fruit and veg, so a much needed shopping trip is on the agenda for this morning. Might get away with just an Aldi shop - it's too easy to get carried away in Sainsbobs!
I have tried to keep abreast of all your news on my phone whilst away. LAINEY I have kept thinking of your mum and her scan. I know just what it's like waiting for scan results as Mr TA has had so many over the last three years. My thoughts are with you. (((HUGS))) to all else in need and take things easy if you can in this heat. Though I heard it's to cool down next week. Time for another coffee methinks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good Morning all, crikey it was a warm night last night. The sun is already up and blazing away and the temperatures are around 21c already, think today will be a scorcher.
I am going out shortly to get my last food shop before my holiday hopefully, (I want to go early before the shops get too crowded) and most of it is just a top-up shop. Then I have a little bit of sewing to do which will be done indoors with my feet up
I did the rest of my ironing last night and only have a small wash of tea/hand towels etc on at the moment. All my menu's are done and sorted for the coming week or two so today will be chill out and watch TV and maybe sew a little
Hope everyone else has a good day .I tend to hide a bit from strong sun as I am very fair skinned and even with factor 50 I burn. But I am quite happy with a pot of tea and just relaxing after a busy week.
Have a good weekend chums whatever you are doing

Morning All
Fairly bright here and dry so the washing is on the line - even washed my stinky slippers!
Went for a lovely bike ride with a friend yesterday, we caught the train and came back along the cycle path, about 10 miles. It was lovely and warm but not hot and sunny which was perfect. Enjoyed seeing the wildlife along the canal and river and even managed a coffee and cake along the way.
Had to do some food shopping yesterday, there was very little in the fridge. Cut out another bag so can sew that later, going up to Glasgow later as DDs shop has a massive sale and I can stock up for christmas pressies. Also need to get some birthday cards and gifts so can get those too.
Have a good weekend, hugs to all. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
I woke up to find the duvet on the floor so I must have been hot overnight.
Yesterday's children's birthday party was delightful. Only half a dozen children and assorted adults all outside. On the way back I stopped at one of the holiday cottages for a drink with a couple who come over every year for two weeks. One glass of rubbish wine sitting outside watching the sea rolling around is good for the soul.
Today - I have no idea. It's in my head to tidy up the spare bedroom as the bed has stuff on it. The kitchen and utility rooms could do with the floors being washed but that doesn't sound instantly inviting!
Welcome back TA.
I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.0 -
Morning all,
Another scorcher here but at least I am not at work. I put a wash on last night and hung it out so it should be ready to come in now I have another to go in and im sure dd has some too so the wm will be earning its keep today.
I need to pop to the shop today for a small top up shop, I must do an online shop for this week I seem to have got out of the habit but stocks are running low, I have got some peppered steaks out of the freezer this morning, will have them with some garlic cubes roasties and some salad.
Might take a walk up the park later and Evie will probably drag us into the pub on the way home ! she had her check at the vets and is all good, longer lead walks till Thursday this week then back to normal :jI cant wait to take her out for a normal walk to use up some of her energy
Hilstep not heard from you for a while, hope you are ok xx
Have good days all xx0
