Missed the 0% Balance Transfer Offer - Please Help

Hi,
I have applied for and received my Barclaycard platinum with £2000 limit. I have been happily using it for 4 months now and have £1000 left to spend. I now wanted to transfer the balance from one of my catalogue accounts on to the credit card as the payments seem really low. I have unfortunately been told that the offer for 0% on balance transfers for 12 months had to be used within the first 60 days, as stated in the t & c's.

No matter how much I grovled I have got nowhere and I really need these catalogue payments to go down for 12 months as the interest is shocking but at the same time I cant afford 6.9% of the balance transfer amount every month becuase I missed out by 8 weeks or so.

I was wondering if I applied for an egg card say, or any really, could I transfer the £1000 from my barclaycard, and the £700 from the catalogue and have 12 months interest free or am I now tied to this card?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help,

Danny

No, you are not tied to a card/s at all. Just take a look at the following 0% card tables http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm

You can get a no balance transfer fee on the shorter promotional periods of 6 months or so, or Virgin for example (just received mine) are offering 15 months interest free, but you have to pay a balance transfer fee of 2.98%, which in your case would work out at about £50. This is added onto your balance, and taken with your first minimum payment, so you wouldnt pay interest on that.

Its just a case of working out what is best for you, but my advice would be to get the whole debt from both cards onto a long term 0% Balance transfer card.
  • Well, if you don't normally read T&Cs of credit cards, you better not apply too many credit cards...otherwise you might put yourself in big debt. Keep an eye of your shopping budget every month.

You had a catalogue debt, then you run up another £1000 in your new cards in 4 months times.

Applying credit cards not a way to clear your debt.
