Vitamin D Deficiency

Just wish to add I found this thread useful as it shows others are also being denied Vit D tests, and the variation in treatment regimes.
I would suggest that those concerned about treatment check the following documents:
SACN vitamin D and health report (July 2016)
See also comments on Vitamin D Council (US) website.

Rickets is pretty much a disease of the past, now.

from your link:Who's affected?
Rickets was common in the past, but it mostly disappeared in the western world during the early 20th century after foods like margarine and cereal were fortified with vitamin D.I'm back..:D

No-one was 'not being nice'. You start a thread, things get discussed. If you think any post broke the forum rules, you can report them, but I can't see any which have contravened the site T&Cs.
I never said anyone was breaking rules. You clearly disagree with almost everyone on this thread and that's fine. I'm not saying your opinion is right or wrong. However you have stated it over and over again and I fail to see the point of everyone repeating themselves.
As with probably every single health issue known to man it's easy to find news stories and articles to back up whichever position you hold stock in. That's why in the opening post I asked if anyone had personal experience of it.
You may think that nobody was being 'not nice' and I agree there's been no swearing or name calling or anything like that but I don't think the tone of the thread is particularly welcoming at this point.
Disagreeing with each other about the necessity of supplements for the general population has very little relevance to the timescale of recovering from a vit d deficiency and that is what I was asking about when I started this thread.
Maybe if some of you want to discuss the merits of blanket supplementation following the recent news stories about vitamin d that could be done in its own thread.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend0 -

That's what I said earlier.....
Again, incorrect. Flour has to be fortified with vitamin B, according to UK law.
http://www.sustainweb.org/realbread/flour_fortification/#current_situation
Only when a company produces x amount of flour, if you go to many small independent mills, such as sleaford, you will find they don't fortify.
It is and isn't what you said, on page three you said if people needed more vitamin D it would be added to food.0 -

You mean cogglesford mill?

where does it say they don't fortify their flour?
and it IS what I said, quite clearly.I'm back..:D

You have said food is fortified with vit D, you then went on to say in another post IF we needed vit D it would be added to foods.
On the packets, or do you require an email from the owner (who I am related to), to confirm this and to send the legislation that applies to small mills?0 -

That would be good.
No just kidding. I also use a small supplier for flour, but not that one, I'm now wondering if their flour is fortified. I will go check!I'm back..:D

Nobody has mentioned.....
http://www.voyage2health.com/importance-vitamin-k2/
"Taking oral vitamin D3 increases your body’s demand for K2, and more recent studies show that symptoms related to vitamin D3 toxicity are actually the result of a K2 deficiency"
Lots more links here...

(I use this search engine, but you can type in "the need for K2 when taking D3 supplements" into Google or any other search engine!)
I read about this years ago, and have been taking Vitamin K2 (from Natto) along with my D3 (5000 IU/day) for a good few years now, to prevent the osteoporosis my Mother and two other female cousins all had!
So far, so good...I'm 66years old!
