Partners incapacity benefit stopped

Hi i was wondering if anybody could help, my parnter has been on incapacity benefit for a few years but recently they have decided he is fit for work ( they dont know him very well) so they have stopped it along with the income support, we have 3 kids 11,8 and 20months, does anybody know what will happen now? Is there any thing we can claim in the time it takes him to look for a job? Where do i stand on getting a job and things like that, im so stressed out about this! Thank you all

Presumably it's stopped because you've had the ESA assessment? When did you get the letter about it? You have one month from the date of the letter to appeal, have you done this?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Although you've not given much info, on the little you've said you should still get income support as you've a young child.

You could appeal the decision if you want your boyfriend to be on ESA and not income support. If he has care needs you could look into PIP and once he has that get carers allowance with joint income support. With income support as a carer you have a brief interview at your local job centre every 3 years.

If he wants a job he could get job seekers allowance jointly.

If it has been stopped, I assume there's been some sort of assessment? If you feel the decision was wrong, you can appeal. If you do appeal, get help. It can make all the difference.

Otherwise you/your partner will have to claim JSA/income support while looking for work.

This only applies to lone parents.

It is important that we know what benefits you were actually on before they were stopped. Some old claims included child additions instead of claiming child tax credits.

If you are not intending to appeal the decision then your partner should be claiming Job seekers Allowances and adding you to his claim. You can also claim child tax credits, housing benefits and council tax reduction if you have savings under £16000.

If you intend to appeal the decision not to be awarded ESA you have a month for the decision letter.

I suggest you go to CAB for help with the appeal. They will also help you claim all the benefits you are entitled to.

I would also suggest you contact your local CAB. Take all your info with you, and get an appointment for a benefits check.

    As pmlindyloo has said -
Joint JSa, Child Tax Credits, HB, & CTr.
    - Would seem the relevant benefits given the info you have set out.

For more details & the application process look at:
    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/

and select the relevant benefit - i.e:

    Also Turn2us is helpful:

Re: a possible ESa appeal, this site is helpful:
    http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/employment-and-support-allowance/start-the-esa-test

And talk to your local CAB (https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/) about the possibility of asking the DWP to look at the ESa decision again / appealing.

    Good luck.

Job wise get your CV written and put it on Monster and any other similar boards, that way recruiters can find you. Look in the paper/on-line for suitable roles, send a cover letter and CV to any that you may be suitable for. Ask any friends if they know anyone hiring.
